In addition to the work done through our advocacy, technical assistance, and initiatives, ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ’ commitment to cultural competence is realized through the efforts of our Cultural Competence Committee. The Committee is a statewide coalition of ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈers who use and or provide recovery-centered, community-based, publicly funded mental health services dedicated to promoting the integrated delivery of culturally competent mental health services throughout ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ State.Ìý Through forums, committee meetings, and special events, the Cultural Competence Committee acts to:

� Promote the integration of the concepts, values, principles and practice of cultural competence
� Promote the widespread availability of culturally competent mental health services throughout ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ State
� Promote the rights of people with psychiatric disabilities and advocate for the elimination of health care disparities.

Position Summary: The Cultural Competence Committee Coordinator will provide primary staffing support to the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Cultural Competence Committee for up to 20 hours per month with more time as approved by the Executive Director.

Major Responsibilities/Activities:
- Sets and posts Cultural Competence Committee meeting schedule online;
- Assures that member list is kept updated;
- Works with the Executive Director and Committee chair to develop the monthly meeting agenda and sends it out prior to each meeting;
- Attends monthly Cultural Competence Committee meetings and assures that minutes are taken, distributed and posted;
- Supports needed committee activity between meetings;
- Supports the Policy Director and Executive Director’s efforts to follow up on Committee-identified legislative and budget initiatives, advocacy with state and local agencies, and input on national initiatives;
- Initiates and assists with policy-related research and development;
- Drafts policy statements and positions for committee;
- Establishes and develops Cultural Competence priorities for ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ training events;
- Aids in the coordination of Cultural Competence events and conferences and travels as needed for such events
- Hosts trainings and delivers presentations at Cultural Competence events as needed
- Uses the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ website actively for Cultural Competence promotion and information dissemination, and possibly regular interaction with committee members and the public;
- Attends staff development training seminars on current practices as approved;
- Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Requirements:
- Facility with computers, internet access and resources.
- High School diploma or GED/ Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to analyze data and write reports.
- Ability to act independently.
- Knowledge of and facility with Cultural Competence principles.
- Lived experience with the mental health system preferred.
